We are Lucy and Judith, and we work for Mobisol. Mobisol is a German company that sells solar systems to families and small businesses in Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya. Within Mobisol, the two of us are responsible for developing the Mobisol Akademie, an in-house training centre. The Mobisol Akademie has been established in 2014, and currently employs 15 people as trainers and project managers. The teams in 3 countries so far carry out short certification programs for sales and technical contractors at Mobisol.
While these certification programs are at the core of Mobisol’s activities and success, we see potential for much more. We dream of a Mobisol Akademie that provides training and support for all – currently around 400 – employees in East Africa. We would like to set up a training infrastructure that is sustainable, participatory, flexible, high-quality, effective, local, and low-cost at the same time. And yes, we believe that is possible!
We lack: A fresh outside perspective, and space for wild ideas. Both of us are deeply involved in the nitty-gritties of the current training processes and topics. Taking a break from operations in Tanzania in July, it is time to zoom out and think big again! We would like to invite you to join us for one day of discussions, brainstorming, stories, action, around the following question:
What does it take to set up a training system for an international company?
Location: Metabolic Lab, Korte Papaverweg 4, 1032 KB Amsterdam
